You may use a single copy of this form to enter either or both The Nick Blatchford Occasional Verse Essay (one entry = as many poems as you like) The Edna Staebler Personal Essay Contest (one entry = one essay).
The Entry Fee for The Nick Blatchford Occasional Verse Contest is $40 for up to 2 poems, $5 for each additional poem. The Entry Fee for The Edna Staebler Personal Essay Contest is $40 per essay; each entry fee includes a subscription to TNQ. There are three easy ways to do this:
A) With Paypal. Click here to proceed.
B) By Phone: 519-884-8111 ext 28290. The New Quarterly accepts Visa and Mastercard, and our working hours are 9-4:30, Mon-Fri. Please email your submission and entry form before you call, to make it easier for us to match your payment to your submission.
C) By Cheque. Print and enclose a copy of contest Entry Form. along with a cheque addressed to The New Quarterly; mail to The New Quarterly, 290 Westmount Rd. N, Waterloo, ON, N2L 3G3. Please do not enclose hard copies of your submission. Please send an electronic copy of the form with your submission as well.
Please include the name of the contest you're entering in the subject line. If sending multiple poems, please send each in a separate file, as each will be judged independently. Ensure that your name does not appear anywhere on your poem(s) or essays, as we will be judging blind. You will receive a notification email once your email has been received. (Note: this is not an automated response; a 'real' TNQ volunteer is sending this reply, after checking your submission and making sure it is complete, so this response may take a few business days to arrive. If you do not receive a receipt within a few days, please contact our Circulation Manager, Melissa Krone, at circulation@tnq.ca )
We are happy to help! If you have any questions or run into technical difficulties in the contest entry process, please contact us. We will be happy to talk you through or, if necessary, make alternate arrangements for the receipt of your submission.
